The Public Policy team focuses on a wide-range of policy issues pertinent to the design profession. Additionally, the team promotes the AIA's public policy positions by working with internal and external constituents to build relationships, develop policy resources, and influence decision-making processes at the local, state, and federal levels. Advocacy efforts are enhanced through the Center for Civic Leadership and through the Local Leaders in Sustainability series. Public Policy works closely with the National Association of Counties, the National League of Cities and the US Conference of Mayors. For a listing of our issue briefs, click here.
Local Leaders in Sustainability Local Leaders in Sustainability is a national research project on green building policy in local communities. This report series, begun in 2007 has included four reports focused on green cities, green counties, green incentives, and green building policy in a changing economic environment. The AIA has sought to develop resources and tools through our Local Leaders in Sustainability study for cities across the country that are developing or expanding green building programs.
The mission of the AIA Center for Civic Leadership is to advance leadership among architects to ensure livable, healthy, sustainable and quality-designed environments for future generations.
