STAFF ASSIGNMENTS
Carolyn Snowbarger, Managing Director, Professional Development and Resources
Carolyn directs programs, services, and strategies that facilitate the lifelong learning of current and prospective AIA members, including AIA/CES, architecture education, the Intern Development Program (IDP), resource development, and the AIA Honors and Awards Programs. She also works closely with the AIA Education Committee.
Carolyn joined the AIA in February, following her tenure as director of the U.S. Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, a nationwide program of educator training and resources. She has significant experience in program design (especially programs delivered “in the field”), implementation, and evaluation. Carolyn also has overseen awards programs and research initiatives, run sizable budgets and staffs, and managed a large corps of volunteers. Previously she worked for the Olathe (Kans.) School District as a classroom teacher and professional-development provider for educators. She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas.
Beverly Holton, Director, Convention Education
Manages and coordinates all aspects of the AIA National Convention continuing education programming, including: program administration and management; education program content generation, selection, and recording educational learning units; publicizing and marketing continuing education programs; and managing the logistics for on-site delivery of workshops and seminars for The American Institute of Architects annual national convention and exposition.
Alla Orlova, MA, Director, Continuing Education
Alla is responsible for the overall management of continuing education and professional learning. Serves as the key organizational and AIA policy advisor on mandatory continuing education issues within the AIA national component, working with state and local components, as well as other associations, and state licensing boards on continuing professional education. Explores emerging trends in continuing education content delivery including web-based models and distance learning. Oversees program quality, development, and administration of the AIA Member records, CES Provider services, and the operations at the University of Oklahoma. In addition, manages the work of the continuing education team.
Bridget Rivera, Manager, Quality Assurance Programs
Bridget works on ongoing special projects related to CES course quality, development, and policies and procedures. Her recent projects included the first AIA Virtual Convention, course reviews for the annual AIA Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference, and the current updating of the CES Provider Manual. Bridget is knowledgeable about provider course compliance issues, administrative responsibilities, CES logo use, learning objectives, and other quality assurance-related matters.
Maria Sigillito, Manager, Compliance Services
Maria compiles the annual early reminder and audit lists. She is also prepares the monthly CES e-newsletters: CES Provider Connection (sent to all CES Providers) and ResourCES (sent to all AIA members). In addition, Maria posts information to the CES blog (at http://blog.aia.org/ces), Twitter, and LinkedIn sites and records, edits, and posts podcasts to AIA.org.
Sara Thomas, Manager, CES Providers
Sara is responsible for the management, recruitment, marketing, and training of all AIA/CES Registered Provider programs and administration. She develops face-to-face and online programs on administration, marketing and advertising, creating learning objectives, sustainable design, and so forth. In addition, Sara reviews all new Provider applications, creates and updates continuing education forms and documents, and provides support and customer service for our more than 2,500 CES Providers.

Bryan Miller, Associate, CES
Bryan helps potential CES Providers complete the application process and leads the renewal process for those already registered. He also coordinates the Expo Education Program for the AIA National Convention.
