Awards Program

The American Institute of Architects has a long tradition of recognizing individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of the profession of architecture and the AIA. Learn more about AIA National awards programs, submission information, and deadlines.

    2010 AIA HONORARY FELLOWSHIP

The AIA Honorary Fellowship program was developed as the international counterpart to the Fellowship program. Election to honorary fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the foreign architect as an individual, but also elevates before the international public and the profession a model architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture and society on an international level.

    2010 AIA HONORARY MEMBERSHIP

Honorary membership is one of the highest honors that The American Institute of Architects can bestow upon a person outside the profession of architecture. Election to honorary membership may be granted to any person of esteemed character who is otherwise ineligible for membership in the Institute but who has rendered distinguished service to the profession of architecture or to the arts and sciences allied therewith. Membership is granted only if the accomplishments of the nominee are truly outstanding and of national significance.

    AIA YOUNG ARCHITECTS AWARD

The Young Architects Award is given to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career.

    2010 AIA Associates Award

The AIA Associates Award is the highest award given to individual associate AIA members who best exemplify the highest qualities of leadership and have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to their component or region's membership, in the community, in professional organizations, and/or in the design and construction industries.

    AIA 25-YEAR AWARD

This award, recognizing architectural design of enduring significance, is conferred on a project that has stood the test of time for 25 to 35 years. The project must have been designed by an architect licensed in the United States at the time of the project's completion. AIA members, AIA components, and knowledge communities are urged to submit projects completed between 1975 and 1985 that have contributed meaningfully to American life and architecture.

AIA ANNOUNCES 2010 INSTITUTE HONOR AWARDS

The Institute Honor Awards program recognizes achievements for a broad range of architectural activity to elevate the general quality of architecture practice, establish a standard of excellence against which all architects can measure performance, and inform the public of the breadth and value of architecture practice.

To achieve these goals, the 2010 Institute Honor Awards program has three divisions: Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Regional and Urban Design.
