Green Your Meetings and Events

Every day each AIA component makes decisions that affect the issues that we as a collective Institute have been so passionate in promoting—none more so than sustainability. To do our part in living a sustainable ethic, we must focus on all the large and small ways our actions can make a difference. One way to do this is to ensure we ”walk the walk” when it comes to how AIA components plan and conduct business. The Sustainability 2030 Green Meeting Guidelines are a resource to help reduce the environmental impact of meetings and events.

Making environmental considerations part of planning for our AIA events can make a significant difference in the amount of food, paper, and packaging waste generated. It can also result in significant energy savings. More and more businesses are seeing environmental event planning as a cost-effective measure in addition to creating good public relations and contributing to overall sustainability.

As AIA National works to green its meetings and conferences, we ask all components to adopt meeting planning practices that will help further reduce the environmental impact of AIA events.
