IDP Coordinators Conference

The IDP Coordinators Conference is an annual gathering of IDP Coordinators and other key players in IDP. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain the tools and information you need to be an effective IDP coordinator. IDP State and Educator Coordinators will be funded to attend the conference. What is an IDP Coordinator?
IDP State Coordinator
IDP State Coordinators are appointed by each AIA state chapter as volunteers who are responsible for the dissemination of up-to-date information on IDP. State Coordinators manage IDP education on a state-wide level. The National Chapter of the AIA is responsible for keeping all IDP Coordinators informed about changes in the IDP on a daily basis. Coordinators communicate with the AIA, NCARB, and with each other on a regular basis and are considered some of the most reliable sources for information on IDP. Also, the AIA funds these volunteers to attend an annual IDP Coordinators Conference where State, Educator, and Auxiliary Coordinators converge to learn about, discuss, and improve aspects of the IDP.
IDP State Coordinators have many responsibilities. Their contact information is posted on the AIA Web site and they take questions from interns in their state. IDP State Coordinators may also be called upon to give presentations at architecture firms, state conventions, AIA chapters, or in any other setting. Whenever possible they help to guide interns through IDP and the path to licensure. Additionally, IDP Coordinators have the chance to help improve IDP as participants on advisory committees that are co-sponsored by the AIA and NCARB.
IDP Educator Coordinator
IDP Educator Coordinators are appointed by the Dean of each NAAB-accredited school of architecture. IDP Educator Coordinators are usually members of the faculty. They are responsible for disseminating up-to-date information on IDP to students and faculty at their school. Like the IDP State Coordinators, these volunteers are informed on IDP by the National Chapter of the AIA on a daily basis and also communicate with the AIA, NCARB, and with each other regularly. These individuals are also considered trusted sources of information on IDP and are funded to attend the annual IDP Coordinators Conference.
IDP Educator Coordinators may be asked to make a presentation on IDP for the school's Professional Practice classes. They are also responsible for offering guidance to their students on IDP and the path to licensure. Their contact information is posted on the AIA Web site as well, and they take questions from students, prospective students, alumni, and others who need their assistance. Educator Coordinators, too, have the opportunity to help improve IDP as participants on advisory committees that are co-sponsored by the AIA and NCARB.
IDP Auxiliary Coordinator
IDP Auxiliary Coordinators are individuals who volunteer to educate their community about IDP by contacting the AIA National Chapter. They are informed about IDP by the AIA; communicate with other Coordinators, AIA, and NCARB; and are invited to attend the annual IDP Coordinators Conference. Auxiliary Coordinators are not funded by the AIA nor are they monitored by the AIA. Their contact information is not posted publicly. Auxiliary Coordinators are most often associated with, but not limited to, an architecture firm, a non-accredited school of architecture, a local AIA chapter, a state board, or an AIAS chapter.
