Resources for Helping American Architects Move to an International Practice

There are a number of resources where AIA members can get more information about moving their practice abroad, including a workshop focusing on moving American firms abroad, and office hours with the Department of Commerce at the Federal Agency Connection.

AIA Supports Community Financial Institutions to Foster Economic Growth

As the AIA continues to advocate on behalf of sensible policy prescriptions to address the lack of credit for design and construction, the House Committee on Financial Services held a field hearing in Ohio exploring the challenges facing community financial institutions. As Congress continues debating the economy, the AIA is continuing to voice support for policies that enable further economic growth and development.

Celebrate Art and Design in Embassies

The Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies (FAPE) will hold its Annual Events in Washington May 15, including a reception and dinner hosted by Secretary of State Clinton, a panel discussion at the National Gallery of Art with David Adjaye, Hon. The meeting will focus on the federal market and current issues which affect architecture and engineering practice.

SBA Hosts National Small Business Week

The Small Business Administration (SBA) will host National Small Business Week in Washington, DC, May 20-22, 2012. The event will feature resources for small entrepreneurs who want to network with other companies and with the federal government for contracting opportunities. In addition, there will be sessions on expanding businesses internationally, extensive federal contracting educational sessions, and a social medium forum. Many of the events are free, but they do require registration.
