AIA Business Meeting
AIA member delegates gathered on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Boston for the annual AIA Business Meeting during the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design to consider amendments to AIA bylaws and resolutions and candidates for national leadership positions.
In an effort to be more open and communicative about its discussions about the organization’s business, the AIA Board of Directors would like to share the outcome of its recent meetings to ratify the 2024 resolutions.
Three new leaders elected to the AIA Board of Directors
Three new leaders have been elected to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Board of Directors. Their terms begin December 13, 2024.
• Illya Azaroff, FAIA, as 2025 President-Elect/2026 President
• Joshua Flowers, FAIA, as 2025-2026 Secretary
• Matthew Toddy, AIA, as 2025-2027 At-large Director
AIA members interested in serving as candidates for the 2026 AIA Board of Directors should direct their questions to AIA Secretary Britt Lindberg, FAIA, c/o Caitlin Couture, CAE, senior director, governance & awards at caitlincouture@aia.org.
2024 Approved resolutions
The delegates also considered four resolutions during the 2024 AIA Business Meeting. The outcome of the delegates' vote on the resolution is as follows:
• Motion to accept Resolution 1 with amendments: AIA Health & Well-being Policy
• Motion to accept Resolution 2: Inclusion of Additional Underrepresented Groups within the AIA Strategic Plan 2021-2025’s Equity Statement
• Motion to accept Resolution 3 with amendments: Governing Body Amendment
• Motion to reject Resolution 4: Providing Virtual Attendance Options for AIA Annual Conference and Women’s Leadership Summit
The approved 2024 resolutions can be viewed here. In accordance with the AIA rules of the board, resolutions adopted at the annual AIA Business Meeting will be referred to the AIA Board of Directors during their board meeting on September 12, 2024, for consideration of ratification and implementation.
