AIA Business Meeting
AIA member delegates will gather on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Boston for the annual AIA Business Meeting during the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design® to consider amendments to AIA bylaws and resolutions and candidates for national leadership positions.

Annually, AIA solicits an open call for candidates for the AIA Board of Directors and other leadership positions. Members interested in standing for election to the offices of 2026 President-elect, Treasurer or At-Large Director at the 2025 AIA Annual Business Meeting.
Attention: Declare candidacy for the AIA Board of Directors
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) annually solicits an open call for candidates for the AIA Board of Directors and other leadership positions.
The role of each member of the AIA Board of Directors varies significantly based on the responsibilities assigned in AIA's governing documents. Chapters 5 and 6 of the Bylaws and the Rules of the Board provide an overall scope of responsibility for those elected to the board. These position descriptions have been created to provide members, potential candidates, and the board itself with an overview of each of the roles and responsibilities.

- 2026 President-elect
- Treasurer
- At-Large Director

Eight AIA members declare candidacy for three offices
The following members have declared their intent to pursue the offices of At-large Director, Treasurer, or President-elect at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2025:

AIA members interested in standing for election to the offices at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2025 are requested to declare their intent by 5pm ET on February 14, 2025.
Eligibility and campaigning
Any Architect member in good standing may declare candidacy for national office as an elected AIA officer. Any individual eligible under the Bylaws for selection as an At-Large Director by the delegates at the annual meeting may declare candidacy for that office.
Campaign rules
A member or other individual becomes a candidate, and therefore subject to the campaign rules stated in Section 6.4 of the Rules of the Board, by announcing candidacy at the last Board meeting of the year, by publicly declaring themselves as such at any meeting comprised largely of AIA members or on social media, or by notifying the Secretary in writing, indicating the office sought.
Key dates
- February 14, 2025 - Deadline for candidates to declare candidacy.
- February 24-26, 2025 - AIA Leadership Summit (all declared and vetted candidates invited to attend and give live speeches)
- April 25, 2025 - Official Delegate Booklet distributed.
- June 4, 2025 - Elections will occur at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
Resolutions
The delegates at the 2025 AIA Annual Meeting will be asked to consider resolutions that require approval by a majority vote of the delegates present and voting. The deadline for submission is Friday, February 28, 2025 (5pm ET). The text of the proposed resolutions will be available no later than April 25, 2025.
