AIA’s Washington, D.C., headquarters is the home base for AIA national staff, but the renewal is creating space with members and allied organizations in mind.
More than 250 AIA24 attendees donned hard hats to experience the progress of AIA’s building renewal and campus transformation. In addition to learning about sustainable materials and design decisions made to create a net zero space, guests discovered key ways the Global Campus for Architecture & Design will serve AIA members.
- Member workspace
The entire second floor of the seven-story office is envisioned as a member-facing space.
When you visit for an event, AIA invites you to stay and work! In addition to a commons area for networking and a coffee point, AIA members and guests from AIA affiliate organizations will also find co-working suites and conference rooms. - Media Lounge
The campus is intended serve as an international hub for design innovation and excellence, and the media lounge will serve as the ideal backdrop for sharing important stories. Meet the press in the AIA media lounge, an area designated to speak about the value of design in your work. - A public space to celebrate architecture
The opening of walls in the redesign of the AIA building presented the opportunity to open the campus, made up of the office space, the historic Octagon building, and the AIA Design Center. The intent: Unite AIA members, students, and allied peers from around the world to convene for collaboration and learning while also offering a place where the public can be inspired by the power of design.
