Design a better future

The Communities by Design program provides expertise and resources to empower communities to envision and build a better tomorrow. The program has engaged more than 250 design assistance teams across the country, tackling critical issues such as housing affordability, environmental justice, and climate adaptation. Our interdisciplinary teams collaborate with community stakeholders and residents to turn shared visions into actionable plans. Design Assistance Teams:

• Empower communities through collaborative design: Emphasizing the role of inclusive, participatory processes to address unique community challenges and create sustainable, people-centered solutions.
• Leverage architects as catalysts for positive change: Harnessing the expertise and creativity of architects to inspire, guide, and implement meaningful transformations in communities of all sizes.
