“Only two things about your job will bring you reliable joy: The fact that you believe you are earning your success and that you are serving other people,” said Brooks, who co-authored the New York Times best-seller Build the Life You Want with Oprah Winfrey. In addition to making sure your work serves other people, Brooks told attendees people who have the most happiness focus on faith, family, friendships.
Attendees emerge as the industry’s largest expo opens on the first full day at AIA24.
The Puppy Park returns, and five experiential zones debut this year as the AIA24 Expo spotlights more than 550 building product manufacturers.
Lakisha Ann Woods, CAE, AIA’s EVP/CEO delivers a keynote address at AIA24 focused on the pride AIA members take in their work and the profession.
Woods outlined a list of member-driven deliverables that top AIA’s 2024 successes to date, including AIA’s new website and the AIA Architect media hub, the launch of AIAU’s Business Acumen series, increased national press coverage for architects, and additional continuing education opportunities. “Every change we make comes from you. Every major initiative is based on data that tells us what you want, what you need, and what you hope for from your association,” said Woods, adding AIA is “100,000 voices combining to will this organization—this profession—forward.”
