Anastasia Calhoun, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, is a dynamic leader in architectural publishing, research, and advocacy. As editor of Texas Architect magazine, she has redefined its legacy by elevating underrepresented voices and mentoring over 100 contributors, many of them first-time or non-native English writers. Her editorial vision has positioned the magazine as a platform for equity, innovation, and public engagement, and she is spearheading a major print and digital redesign to debut in 2025.
Ana’s impact extends beyond publishing. A former research strategist at Gensler and Overland Partners, she helped develop “The Human Handprint,” a sustainability framework adopted by award-winning projects, and contributed to AIA National’s Intersections study on climate, racial justice, and pandemics. With a background in fine art, international education, and public interest design, Ana brings a multidisciplinary lens to architecture.
Her writing—often exploring the emotional, social, and psychological dimensions of design—has been nationally recognized, and she has spoken on justice, accessibility, and inclusive storytelling at conferences and universities. Through leadership roles with AIA San Antonio and Texas Society of Architects, Ana has reshaped awards programs and expanded representation.
