Katie Cherrier, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, is a passionate advocate and mentor whose leadership, from local mentorship to national advocacy, is transforming architecture into a more inclusive and accessible profession for underrepresented communities.

Katie Cherrier, Assoc. AIA, NOMA, is a dedicated advocate, mentor, and emerging design professional working to expand equity and inclusion within the architectural profession. As a nontraditional student and mother of three, Katie began her architectural journey at Spokane Community College and has since become a prominent voice for underrepresented groups, especially Indigenous and women architects. She currently serves as an Associate at Integrus Architecture and a national At-Large Director on the AIA National Associates Committee (NAC), where she leads the VALUE Work Group focused on elevating Associate member voices.
Katie’s impact spans local to national levels. In Spokane, she mentors students, leads design workshops for K-12, and fosters career pathways through the Native Parent Advisory Committee. Regionally, she has served as a Board Associate for AIA Washington Council and co-led initiatives like webinars on licensure and legislative advocacy that helped retire Washington’s “rolling clock.” Nationally, she co-created tools to empower Associates in leadership and presented on inclusive volunteerism at AIA’s Conference on Architecture.
Her career is driven by purpose and fueled by community. Whether advocating at Capitol Hill or teaching Girl Scouts to design houses, Katie embodies a commitment to accessible, inclusive, and compassionate architecture that reflects the diverse world it serves.
